Hey friends, it's Sass here. It's been a while. I wanted to record this episode, which is really an announcement about a lot of changes that I've been making in my coaching work, and some of those are having a ripple effect on this podcast. So I wanted to keep you in the loop and catch you up on all the things. I'm sitting here at the bottom of the world You're probably asleep right now. I have hot coffee, a heated blanket because it is still winter here a sneezing pup who I'm hoping won't bark halfway through, but you just never know. And, yeah, I wanted to let you know where I'm at. So this podcast, courage and Spice, has been, if you've been here, since the beginning. It was 2017 when podcasts started to come about and I thought oh, that sounds fun, let me experiment. And I remember recording the very first episode and thinking no one's going to want to listen to me bang on about self-doubt. And here we are many years later almost 175 episodes, I think over well over half a million downloads. So many conversations about self-doubt and self-belief and trying to make sense of this. It's been one of the most consistent companions of my work and I bloody love it. I love podcasts. I'm a huge fan of them. I listen to podcasts every day and so it's kind of fun to be contributing Courage and Spice to the podcast canon. So I just really wanted to acknowledge like where we're at. I mean, I couldn't do this without you listening in. So, whether you've been here from the very early days or if you're brand new, I'm so glad you're listening in and thank you for all of the messages and emails and conversations we've had as a result of me banging on about self-doubt, and there is a shift coming.
Speaker 1:Over the last year or so, my work has started to shift. I think my coaching and my programs are starting to become much more focused on supporting fellow practitioners, coaches, therapists, folks who are working in a coaching modality, and a lot of that has come from, I think, a couple of things. One is developing the self-belief coaching methodology and realizing that I could teach that and license other coaches to use it with their beloved clients, and just seeing the huge ripple effect of that. That led me to want to deepen my skill set in terms of supporting other coaches. And so, about three years ago now, I trained and certified as a coaching supervisor and I've been working in this way for a while now and I've realized that when I help other coaches build their self-belief and their businesses, that ripple effect with every single client they work with. It is such a powerful multiplier and I'm kind of in love with that work.
Speaker 1:So some things have been changing behind the scenes. If you are a human with self-doubt, you may have been part of programs that I've run over the last few years, like Courage Based Goals and Self self-belief school and things that are designed for folks who are not a coach but just experience self-doubt, and I am closing down that side of my practice which is both, you know, sad and difficult, and also I feel really energized by these changes and it's felt really natural that the podcast would evolve too, and so the first obvious change is that the name is changing. From now on this is going to be Courage and Spice for Coaches, with a tagline of build your self-belief in your business in under 30 minutes a week, so you can expect shorter, punchier episodes that give you something useful when you listen in. We'll focus on the intersection of self-belief and business for coaches and how your own patterns of self-doubt will show up when you're doing the fun stuff of marketing and pricing and coaching and creating and what to do about it. So my work is shifting and the podcast is moving to be focused on supporting coaches. Some things aren't changing. It's still going to be me, my voice, my compassion, my deep fascination with self-doubt and my kind of ongoing love affair with how we build self-belief in ways that are really pragmatic and robust, and you can start to sort of see the practical outputs of really embodying self-belief. I'm still going to be bringing in guests.
Speaker 1:I am really excited about interviewing other coaches around how they set their business up and what works and what doesn't, and what their big lessons have been and how self-doubt has rocked up for them. I really want to demystify this quite complex work that we do as self-employed coaches, like we're running a business and we're doing this helpful work. Both of them are a craft and an art and they're complex and they bring up all of our shit and I want us to just really be okay with that. And I want us to just really be okay with that because I firmly believe that this coaching work we do is sacred, right. It's part of how we build a world that we all want to live in. We are all about supporting our clients to stand in their values and be fully expressed and do the work that they are here to do, right?
Speaker 1:So I've always seen our role as being kind of in the wings of the theatre of our clients' lives, and they're on the stage and we're there to remind them of their significance and to help them kind of unpack all the ways that maybe they get in their own way. And for us to do this really effectively, right, to be able to ask the right questions, to refrain from the temptation to rescue, give advice, to actually show up and partner with our clients to help them understand themselves. That takes real skill. That takes real skill. So look, if you're a coach and you sometimes struggle with some self-doubt around your services right, like actually showing up with clients or in your business right, the marketing, the pricing, the visibility, all of that shiz stick around, keep listening. If you know a coach who could use a boost of courage and clarity and some confidence all those lush C words this is the podcast for you and I guess you know.
Speaker 1:One of the things I want to leave you with is I feel like I've always been evolving, or I've been at this for 13 years now, but so much has changed since I first started, you know, back in 2012,. Whenever it was that I trained, it was 2012. I mean, no one knew what an algorithm was Like. The idea of Zoom felt very Star Trek, right. We did not have video conferencing back there. In lots of ways, I feel like I'm starting again, but I have all of this experience under my belt and, you know, with this new focus comes a new website, some fresh new visual branding, rejigged offers, like all of this is about for me creating a more streamlined and simple, simple, intentional business. Over the last year, I've been doing a ton of personal work to really get me to here, and here's what I'm kind of excited about now is I want to share the behind the scenes of all of this, like sharing with you how I'm setting my practice up, what's flying, what's flopping, the lessons I'm learning about, you know, creating a really human business and what is becoming a much more technified world.
Speaker 1:So if you are interested in that messy, real, sometimes magical stuff of what it's like to really build a coaching practice, please do listen in. You don't have to wait. The next episode is already there and it's all about my new business focus, where I'm heading next and how I'm setting myself up. So I just want to say, if you're not a coach and you're like, yeah, I'm going to be unsubscribing, I just want to say thank you for being here. This isn't goodbye to what Courage and Spice has been. I think it's the next chapter of what's coming, and it's been a joy to be taking up your earbud time. I know that that is incredibly precious, so thank you for being here. Thank you for listening in. I wish you only good things, and if you are a coach and you really give a shit about this work and you want to build a beautiful business that you freaking love, then hang out with me in the next episode. I'll see you there.
